If I ever was rich enough to be in FIRST row seats at a MLB game…or a crappy enough team,, and saw a player running at me to catch a ball; I would most definitely not try to get in their way. Even for the opposing team ; that’s just really. Weird concept to me. Now if I caught a ball from a home run of the away team, I might throw it back yes. Maybe. And also not throw it at a fking player- just yknow, back on the field like a non psychopathic person

NONE of these are lack of hustle. A few players popped a hamstring and weren't going to keep running because of the one in a million chance at a single. And Upton played it 100% right. There's an angled fence in left center. So he can't sprint to the fence and hope the ball doesn't kick the other direction. He has to wait. It's a triple no matter what on that play.

2:01 does anyone know what would have happened if pitcher had successfully tagged out runner at home after wild pitch? Ump had already indicated pitcher was gone. Does defense only have 8 players at that time or does the ejection get implemented at the end of the play or did the umpire fail to let the play complete before ejecting? Thanks for any input. Edit/Follow up I guess it doesn’t matter under the current rules because I am fair certain umpires are forced to take time to confer before ejecting so the pitcher in today’s game would remain in until being ejected after the play

I remember Gil Hodges walked out of the dugout in the middle of an inning out to left field and grabbed Cleon Jones by the arm and pulled him from the game for not hustling. Cleon Jones was the Mets best hitter at the time, but Gil Hodges did not tolerate not hustling.

Baseball's amazing. You can watch NFL, NBA and hear some of the trash talking that goes on with no need for hurt feelings or all of this drama. Definitely the softest egos of any sport in America. Embarrassing really.
